Bank of Finland Museum

The Bank of Finland Museum was opened in August 2003. Its displays include the history of money in Finland and abroad as well as the role of the Bank of Finland in the European System of Central Banks.

The Bank of Finland Museum has especially been designed for Finnish school pupils and students. A guided visit for groups of school pupils takes about an hour and provides a historical overview of money and monetary systems in Finland and elsewhere, the Bank of Finland’s role and current tasks in the context of the Eurosystem, some basic economics and a view of Finnish banknote art. The presentation can be tailor-made for a specific group by prior arrangement. Please book your guided tour in advance!

More about the euro

The Bank of Finland has opened its online study site More about the euro (www.euro.fi), which focuses on monetary and financial matters and has been designed as additional study material for students of economic affairs at the upper level of comprehensive school, upper secondary school and vocational and technical colleges. The site aims to provide an easy-to-use and fun way to familiarise oneself with the ways in which the monetary economy works, all of which have important implications for the financial affairs of young people.
