Try your hand as a central banker!
The Museum has multimedia and games on permanent display that bring the abstract topics of finance and banking sectors alive. The multimedia reflects the topics presented in the nearby display units and give more in-depth information. You can play the monetary policy game, plan your finances with the help of the loan value calculator or test how the price of a train fare, for instance, has changed from the 1800s to the present.
The games and multimedia are also accessible to groups, as they can be projected onto the white screen in the central plaza area. Student groups are very welcome to attend a guided visit at the Museum! Please book a time in advance at +358 10 195702 or by email at rahamuseo(at)bof.fi.
The Bank of Finland maintains the Eurokampus website (www.euro.fi/en/), which has been designed to serve as a supplementary source of material for teaching economics in upper secondary schools and vocational colleges. It is an easy-to-use and interesting way to familiarise oneself with the many ways the monetary economy works, all of which have important implications on one’s own financial affairs.
By familiarising yourself with the study aid on economics you can deepen your economic understanding. Tasks on monetary policy guide you to the basics of monetary policy while the tasks on loans and interest rates help you to understand the real cost of borrowed money. After going through the questions on statistics you will be better equipped to interpret economic statistics accurately.
